Last Summer Trip

She is SOOOOOOOO close to walking.  Well- she can walk.  She's taken six steps at her max before, but chooses to crawl instead of walk.  C'mon, sister!  We work daily at having her walk around and she gets impatient with us.  I know she can do it- because she does!  But crawling is faster, so down she drops and off she goes.

A few weeks ago we stopped rocking Emma to sleep.  Now she gets her bedtime stories, "night night" (even for daytime naps) kisses, and gets plopped in bed.  Sometimes she naps, sometimes she doesn't.  For the most part she goes down well for her morning nap and at night.  It's just that afternoon nap that is hit or miss.  If nothing else, that afternoon "naptime" gives me a chance to get a few things done without chasing a little miss around the house.

MawMaw left today from her last visit for the summer before school begins.  What a difference this summer was from last summer with a newborn Emma.  It feels like forever ago, and yesterday, all at the same time (I know that doesn't make sense).  Next summer we'll be back to a similar routine with another new little one at the house.  Boy or girl?  I'd love to hear your guesses!

We have lots of photos of Ava, Papa, and Emma playing.  They have had a blast exchanging kisses and tickles.  Emma laughs and giggles so hard when Ava gives her kisses and sniffs at her.  She's a gentle giant around Emma, which is a blessing and funny to watch.

On a not so happy note, MawMaw took home my little Mollie today with her.  We had an incident a couple weeks ago where she bit Emma for no reason and since then has tried a few more times to nip at her face, but hasn't been able to make contact again with us there to deflect it.  Every time Emma has been just crawling by, but apparently got too close to Mollie's personal space.  She'll go from old and crotchety to sweet and giving Emma kisses in the blink of an eye.  Nevertheless, we arranged to have my first little baby, Mollie, find a new (and old, since she grew up there) home with MawMaw.  It's awful to not have her here, as she's been by my side for almost 10 years.  But I can't keep gambling Emma's safety.  The bite that made contact just made a scratch- no bleeding.  But what if next time is worse?  Sigh... I love you, Mollie.  But I love Emma more.
