Bubble Baby

Sweet Feet!

Today was a busy day for the Witte women.   We went to the library to enjoy storytime this morning.  It was a busy group today with lots of bigger kids to run and keep Emma entertained.  During the bubble time she reached out to touch bubbles for the first time!  Too cute...

This evening we went to a friend's home to enjoy pizza and fun.  It was journal club night and was my first chance to attend.  Each month the orthopedic residents have a journal club meeting and at the same time the ladies all get together for pizza (apples for Emma) and camaraderie at someone's home.  Tonight it was at Natalie's house.  We had fun!

Emma also officially has her second little tooth!  This one came in right next to the other one, so she has her two bottom front teeth now.  They're still shy teeth though and I haven't been able to get a photo of them yet.

"Mama... knock off all the photo taking!"

She finally did it!  My sweet girl reached for me yesterday.  Ahhhhhh... bliss.  My heart was positively SOARING!

Mum's The Word

My little sweetheart is just SO. MUCH. FUN!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love my daughter.

Today she's really taken off with her babbling.  She's been making cute sounds but today she really has begun making vowel sounds.  Lots of "mum mum mum" and "goo goo", "ga ga ga" and "ma ma ma".  I would be lying if I didn't admit that I act like she knows what she's saying when she says "mama" and "mum mum".  But I know she doesn't.  ;) It'll come!

She's working really hard on moving around.  Lots of rolling and she will rotate around and scoot but isn't crawling (or up on hands and knees).  For now, she's still semi-sedentary.  Those powerful rolls keep me on watch, though!  Gone are the days of setting her down and doing a chore.  Now when I put her down off she rolls!  And I know... all the experienced mamas out there are laughing at me because I have NO idea what moving is yet! :)  I just love every stage.

She's also getting very comfortable reaching for everything except for me.  As you can see from the bottom photo she loves to reach for things.  When I go to pick her up, though, she just smiles at me like, "Mama, come on.  We both know you want to snuggle me so stop asking me to raise my arms for you when you know you're going to pick me up anyways."

Today we ran more errands (she's my little personal assistant- accepting hugs and kisses constantly), including a trip to a HMA friend to deliver a meal to celebrate their new little baby, Hank.  Love that name...

Cold Turkey

I tried my hardest to get a photo of Emma Kate and her new tooth but as of now it is to remain a mystery for the camera.  Her sweet little chompers are certainly working their way in!  Still only one tooth, but I think another one is following closely on it's tail.

Our week has been busy so far.  Lots of errands and work around the house.  Emma has been a treat when running our errands.  We make them fun for her and she loves looking at all of the people, hearing the sounds, and seeing all of the bright colors. She's the best little girl a mama could ask for.

Last Friday night I was up late waiting for Papa to get home and didn't get more than an hour and a half of sleep because Emma woke in the middle of the night.  She had a few more rough nights of nap/sleep (see below) and the past few days she has been sleeping a LOT.  A lot a lot a lot.  That is part of the reason I don't have many photos this week.  Zack thinks she's growing, but she's actually eating less than normal (which worries me always- I want her to eat like one of those tiny hot dog scarfing Asian ladies that can eat triple her weight).  She seems happy though!  Just not eating... and just veryyyyy sleepy...

And- we haven't swaddled her since Saturday and she is officially, irrevocably finished with it.  During her mid-night (or morning... puh!) tantrum she managed to roll over on her tummy IN the swaddle.  Little stinker.  So now she's done. She had to go cold turkey with her arms out and after 5 days or so seems to be fine with it.  We are still in a sleeping blanket sack to keep warm but her little arms are free to roam.  Bliss... I am a lucky mama.

Pretty in Pink

Emma Kate... So pretty in pink and Mama's pearls.

Happy Birthday, Shelby!

The birthday girl, Shelby, enjoying her new toy.

Emmaline and Emma- new buddies!

 Martha and her Mama

Saturday was our friend Shelby's first birthday.  We went to their home for a spectacular pajama party to celebrate!  We were all rockin our sweet jammies but the question of the day was admittedly, "Errr- what if you don't wear pajamas?"

Another "Pop" By

Fun on Sunday with Papa

Yesterday was a real treat for Emma Kate and I.  We were given another pop-by from Pop!  He brought us pizza and we shared a delicious lunch.  It was so nice to be able to see him and was a light to our week!

Today Emma and I ran lots of errands and Emma was a real ham.  She loved smiling and cooing at people which made me happy and proud of her.  She fell asleep in the car without a peep partway through our errands which allowed me some time to walk through Target guilt-free with a sleeping baby.  We're back to the 99% kind of days.  Ahhhhhh.  Relief!

A 1% Kind of Day

I know I'm biased, of course, but I don't think there is a single person who could look at these photos I took today and say she isn't just the sweetest little girl! Ahhhhh ha ha!  She has you FOOLED!  Adorable? Yes.  Cuter than a daisy in summer?  Indeed. Sweet? NOOOOOOOO!!!  My adorable bundle is a monster in disguise.  Just yesterday I was working in the house and thanking God for my blessings.  Even with the losses and struggles we may have I truly feel so blessed.  Yesterday I was in awe of how perfect life is and how I hit the jackpot with my baby girl.  How she truly is awesome and I'm spoiled rotten with how good she is.  Mu hah hah! She heard me.  Today has been a toughie.  I was AMAZED at the smiles I got for these photos because almost all day she has been screaming at me.  Not crying.  Nay- cries are for the faint of heart.  These are SCREAMS.  Ear piercing, headache inducing, regretfully-tear inducing for me- screams.  They've rattled my brain.  I regret to say that it's been a teeter-totter today between feeling dreadfully sorry for her (because I don't know what's wrong other than she's just a beast) and fed up with her for screaming!  Legs kicking, booty bucking, arms flailing, nails scratching screaming.  And of course... the harder she cries the more she coughs, the more she coughs the more it hurts, the more it hurts the more she cries.  I think you get the picture.  Now the coughs are not new.  The snot is not new.  The diarrhea from the antibiotic is not new.  NOTHING IS NEW!  Except for my little monster.

But ahhhhhh.... have another look at that sweet girl.  She is adorable.  She is incredibly sweet 99% of the time.  But ohhhhhhhhh that other 1% makes for a real humdinger of a day.   But I still am singing my blessings.  I do love her- more than my puny human heart can imagine.

We love you, Grandpa

Last night God welcomed Grandpa Beeks into His family.  He passed around 10pm in the arms of his wife and best friend only weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  All things considered, it sounds like a peaceful way to join God- leaving the arms of one who loves you to join in the arms of the one who created you.  Although we'll miss him, I am happy to know he's safe with the Lord and is no longer in any pain.  We love you, Grandpa.

Happy 7 Month Birthday, Emma Kate!

"I am going to demolish this sticker and there's nothing you can do about it, Mama!"

Happy 7 Month Birthday, Emma Kate!

Today marked not only a birthday for my little sweetheart, but also a major milestone for her as well.  She got her first tooth!  Three tiny mammelons of #p are peeking through her gums.  The poor sweetheart is sick with RSV (which is getting better, but she still has wheezing, boogers, and coughs) but she also was getting her first tooth! What a day!
