Streeeeeeetch...
Got it!
How is it that nearly every smiling photo I take manages to be blurry?!
When we picked Papa up from the airport we went inside to surprise him and Emma didn't know who he was for a while... it was sad. But then she warmed up to him again! She was fascinated with his glasses.
Blurry, of course, but you can see her smiling so big!
We have had a tremendously busy five days. Last night we picked Zack up from the airport. He was in Houston for another conference and I am so incredibly thankful that this is the last of his conferences for the foreseeable future. The first conference was a few days- not awful. This second one was just too much with a brand new puppy. He's sweet, he's cute, he wants to please. But he's also a puppy and a PITA. I basically take care of everything on my own anyways, but getting no relief or emotional support for five days was a little more than my hormonal pregnant self can take.
Saturday Emma and I went garage saleing and made a haul! For $21 we bought three HALO sleep sacks for new baby, two toys for new baby, 4 little golden books, 3 dishes for Martha's baby shower, a seashell for Emma's birthday next year, a basketball hoop and a toy car. Jackpot! One garage sale had both the basketball hoop and toy car (which is a glittery pink- ADORABLE!) and they were marked $20 for the car and $7 for the hoop. I figured, "Meh- let's give it a shot!" and asked the lady if I bought both of them if she could make me a deal. She walks over, looks at the prices and says, "$15 for both?" Ummmm... yes. Yes, please! What a bargain! It pays to ask.
Emma LOVES her car. She likes to crawl in and out, push it around, and open and close the door. Best of all, there is a horn that makes some pretty funny sounds on the inside that she likes to honk. She even dug a cup out of the Tupperware drawer so that she could take a roadie with her in the car (Yes- there's a cupholder... my goodness...). It's pretty cute.
Saturday we also had a playdate at our house. We invited friends with kids over and let them have fun for a while together. It was fantastic and will definitely have to happen again!
I couldn't stand my impatience any longer for my OB appointments either so I did a little rescheduling today, keeping in mind my sweet sister-in-law's advice that three weeks DOES matter, even three DAYS matters! They had my anatomy scan scheduled for when I'm 21 weeks along. Whaaaaaaat? I was trying to be patient, and well... can't. So I rescheduled it to a modest 19 weeks. I was proud of myself. They wanted 21, I wanted 18, so I called and asked for 19 and got it. We'll find out that little baby is hopefully very healthy and strong and find out if he is indeed a he or a she (I'm still thinking a she!) on Monday October 20th. I can't wait!
Chronicles of Idiocy (Funny to you maybe, not funny to me, alone without help):
Angus hasn't peed on the floor in over 2 weeks. I let him out to potty and then back in again for Emma's bathtime (figuring he could be in there for 20 minutes just fine). We leave the bathroom and I find a pee spot and... wait for it... a pee dribble line a good three+ feet long. The little nasty peed and then walked to finish peeing after being let out 20 minutes earlier. Not. Happy.
There are now three holes in my flowerbed and no flowers. I had a fern, three hostas, a rose bush, lilies, irises, and some sort of funny plant. All that remains is the rosebush (which I also caught him plucking the pink roses off of the other day). He'll dig a hole to lay in. "_________!!" (Insert raging expletive here)
We've been wanting to have a campfire to get rid of some dried brush on our burn pile. Angus took care of it. I had to pick up loads of sticks in the yard because he'll pluck them out one by one to scatter them all over. The good news? There's always a stick handy for me to give him a swat for misbehaving when outside. Sweet justice.
The first night I'm home alone without Zack I roll over, Angus starts barking, I get him hushed outside to potty but find when we return that his barking woke Emma. At 4:45am. My day begins early...
I have a playdate scheduled for Saturday and see on Friday that the lawn is looking rather like a meadow. I mow. (Please note- I HATE mowing and have done it twice now PREGNANT!) I read online how ladies in my birth month (from a forum I follow) are getting pampered and don't clean/cook/lift a freaking finger, etc. What do I get? A new puppy. A child to raise on my own. A yard to mow... pregnant. Yes- I know. I hear many of the world's smallest violins playing for me right now. However, have a dip of feeling- I'm hormonal, remember?
I borrow a movie to watch from the library while Zack is gone (YAY!!! No gore or sports!!) and come to find the lady has 4 miscarriages, a stillbirth, and then another lady in the movie lets her child drown in the tub because she's a horrible person. I. Am. Sobbing. Sobbing... and alone. And can't go snuggle Emma because she's sleeping. This was supposed to be a GOOD movie! Bah... This wasn't an Angus post so much as a poor me post... I'm digressing.
Have I mentioned lately that I truly do feel so blessed, so lucky, and so happy to live my life? No sarcasm... I really am blessed. I will admit that I'd be MORE blessed without a blockhead dog to add to my busy schedule. Sigh... pity party over and out.
