Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!

Today proved to begin cold and rainy and then transitioned into colder and sleety.  Yuck!  We went to on OB appointment this morning.  Gwen's heartbeat sounded beautiful Emma was a gem during the appointment.  I think she is getting used to going into the office.  We got official confirmation that everything looked healthy and measured perfectly from the anatomy scan.  Whew!  What good news to hear!

After our appointment we went to the library again for the last of our library Halloween parties.  It was great fun!  Tonight we were supposed to meet friends to go trick-or-treating but it was hovering around 40degrees and was raining.  We went to dinner instead and just trick-or-treated at our close neighbors homes and by the time we left it changed to sleet.  Emma wore her poodle skirt outfit to the library and also to trick-or-treat at the neighbors, but she wore her ladybug dress to dinner.  So cute!!

Sleepy, Happy Girl

Our Halloween party today was AWESOME.  We went to another branch for their party today and it was fabulous.  We had so much fun!  Emma didn't want to leave despite getting there early and staying for the whole thing.  She was pooped by the time we made it home.  There's nothing more satisfying than a happy, sleepy, content little girl at naptime.

Halloween #2

Today was our second day of Halloween.  We were at one of the local library branches to go to their Halloween party.  It was so cute seeing all of the little ones dressed up!

The outdoor photos are from last night.  I told Zack he had to either take the dogs to the pond for a swim or give Angus a bath.  He opted for the swim and Emma and I went along to watch and play outside.  Angus was a smelly nasty thing and was much better after swimming through the pond.  He is still proving to be a cute, but stinky, messy, crazy animal.  Sigh... this taught me a lesson in boundaries.  Sometimes giving your husband everything he wants is NOT the best choice.

Smiles

Just look at these smiles!  FINALLY!  I caught on camera the joy she has when playing.

Today Emma and I had our favorite storytime of the week with Miss Christy.  It was so much fun and was everything that Emma is used to, which is nice.  It's such an active, exciting storytime that it's a joy and pleasure to watch her experience it.  Afterwards we took Zack lunch at work and were able to sit outside at the picnic table to enjoy the beautiful weather.  This morning we went to the mall before they opened to play at the playground there and to do a little shopping.  We spent about $10 and got some good steals and cute clothes for Gwen and Emma.  It's so fun to look at the teeny tiny outfits that I'll be needing again!

Pepe Le YUM

A little out of order... sigh.  That's my life currently.  Thursday night Zack was on call at the hospital and had to spend the night there.  Emma and I drove to meet him and play at the hospital a little while and also went to a quick dinner down the road at a Mexican restaurant called Pepe's.  It was very Cebolla's like and delicious.   Emma basically ate her weight in salsa, which makes sense considering that was all I craved when I was pregnant with her!

Halloween Begins

Another busy few days just whirled by us.  Friday night we went to an alumni reception at a home near us and Emma had a blast.  The home was an old Mary Todd Lincoln home and fully of history (which I loved hearing about).  The gentleman who owns the home Zack has referred to as one of the most interesting men in Kentucky.  I never got to speak with him, but I daresay his wife is quite interesting herself!

Sunday night we had the first of 6 Halloween parties we'll attend this year.  This one was with our friends at their daycare.  Emma slept through most of the party, so we were only able to catch the tail end of the event, which was the parade and trick or treat time.  At least she was there for a fun part!  MawMaw made us matching costumes with poodle skirts.  Emma was absolutely adorable and got so many sweet compliments.  I, however, just look like I've eaten too much Halloween candy with my rotund belly.

Monday was another storytime and then we met Zack for lunch at Olive Garden afterwards.  Delicious!!

Fun Weekend!

It was supposed to look like "Night (cricut of owl) Owl Dipes"... Mom said no one would be able to tell that was an owl.  Sigh....

I made Martha a yarn wreath.

Our husbands all came to the shower as well.  The Bengals and Colts were playing so the guys were out in the garage watching the game during the shower.

Martha- this must be the skinny cam, because neither of us look pregnant!

Yesterday we met Papa at work for a potluck lunch.

There is so much to catch up on!  We had a very, very busy weekend.  Friday was busy with running errands in the morning and then our exciting anatomy scan in the afternoon.  Zack came and met us there at the clinic straight from work.  He got caught in traffic and we were lucky to have a nice ultrasound tech who was willing to wait on him to get there to begin.  It was 70 degrees and sunny out and I was the only one in the office.  It was very kind of her to be so patient with us!  We were excited to see a healthy little girl and pray that she continues to grow healthy and strong!

After our anatomy scan we went to Dairy Queen to get an ice cream and celebrate baby Gwen.  We ended up getting the munchies and stopped at White Castle for a few cheeseburgers on our way home.  It. Was. Delicious.  Neither Zack or I have had White Castle in over 15 years and it was sooooo good.

MawMaw came on Friday night and we were able to eat dinner with her and celebrate the new baby.  It was awesome having her here over the weekend.  She was a huge help in getting ready for the shower and was also so much fun to be around.  It was a blessing and a treat to have her here!

Saturday we spent getting ready for the baby shower for Martha on Sunday.  We did go to Chuy's to enjoy a yummy meal, but otherwise we kept pretty busy just working at the house.

Sunday flew by with the shower in the afternoon.  There was a great turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy the food and have a good time celebrating Baby Allen.  Martha was a gracious guest of honor and lots of fun to watch.  It was a good time!
Monday we had storytime at the library and a nice long walk in the afternoon.  Tuesday was another library storytime and then we met Zack at his work for a potluck lunch.  We took Polish Mistakes and punch and met his coworkers.  It was fun to be able to see him at work and see how friendly all of the people are at the children's hospital.  Emma loved all of the attention that she got while we were there.  It was pretty cute.

Last night I hosted journal club at my house so our home was filled with fun and friends.  The kids had a good time playing together and we ladies had a good time being able to catch up after having a month off.

It has been a VERY busy few days!
