CSA

Yesterday we went to a park downtown so that Papa could play basketball with his friends and so that Emma could play on a new playground. It was soooo hot and humid outside. Whew.
We decided to participate in a CSA this year. This week was our first pickup of produce and we have had a blast trying new recipes to use up the vegetables. Delicious!
Emma had fun helping us rinse and separate green garlic rounds.
Gwen was super sleepy during our walk to the park today. We went to the farthest walkable park and it was a pleasure to have two happy girls for the long trip there and back.

Duck Duck Goose

It's just not natural!! I took Emma to a park today where I knew there would be some ducks or geese. In the least she would be able to walk around and look at the wildlife. At best we could maybe coax a duck or two over with the bread crusts I brought. The "wildlife" ended up being not wild at all. As soon as we got off of the sidewalk and started toward the pond a horde of them swarmed us. It made feeding them easy but not at all the game and chase I thought it would be. The little ducks are so tame they'd eat from your hand and step on your feet. It's just not natural.

Double Dipping

Emma hated her swing. Gwen loves it!

A rare sweet sleepy photo. It was after 5 and time to wake up. I couldn't resist a photo as most other times I am striving for her to get as much sleep as she needs.

Emma loved her applesauce so much she decided to try and eat it with both her fork AND spoon... Simultaneously, of course.

A Shot In The Dark

I always have a great view from my stroller with my two girls to look at.
Emma likes it when she wakes up first because she gets a kick out of scaling Gwen's crib to see her and say good morning.

Beautiful smiles!
Grandma Ruth had some bibs made before she had her stroke and Emma was given two of them. They're her favorite and she takes special care to select them from the bib drawer.

We took a shot in the dark the other night and asked Zack if we could bring him some dinner and we did!  It was wonderful!
Gwen slept the whole time.

Zack was able to eat his meal and then had to go straight back to work. His patients are lucky to have him to care for them. And we are lucky to call him ours. (And there's that bib again!)

We tried a new park on Tuesday but Emma has gotten into a slump at parks where she doesn't want to do anything but the swing. She used to run all over and do all the slides and climb. Now she just wants me to push her in the swing, which is fine and I am totally up for that but she doesn't get exercise sitting in a swing. I'm not sure what the deal is but I do miss my little active girl who did all the slides- it was fun!  Until she comes back I will continue to encourage the park and playtime and hopefully won't always be a human swing pushing machine.

You Call THAT a Playground?!

Emma continues to have a great time playing in her sandbox. Perhaps someday we will live near some water so she can splash and play as well as play in the sand.
Can you see that look in her eyes? Gwen hasn't been sleeping well at all lately. My champion who was sleeping through the night is now waking up thirty minutes after anytime I lay her down. Sigh ...
We took the girls on a little hike today. There was signage that indicated a playground so after we walked out of our way to get there THIS is what we found. Never have I seen such a crapola of a playground. Poor Emma!

Swingin through Saturday

We had a fun Saturday with Papa at home. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed every minute.
